Following last summer's consultation with stakeholders, Measurement Canada has put in place a temporary dispensation program to address the continued use and oversight of unapproved electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) already deployed in the Canadian marketplace.

Temporary dispensation for Level 1 and Level 2 electric vehicle supply equipment
A permission granted to owners of level 1 and level 2 electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) already deployed in the Canadian marketplace to continue to use those meters for the purpose of obtaining the basis of a charge for electricity, subject to conditions which will help ensure that such charges are based on accurate measurement.
