Help: Apply for a special event call sign prefix (National, provincial, municipal or organizational)

Use this service to apply for a special event call sign prefix (or prefixes) that will be used nationally, provincially, municipally or within an organization. Please use "Help: Apply for a special event call sign (Individual or club)" to request a special event call sign to be used by an individual or club station.

Step 1

You must provide your amateur number, which can be found on your certificate, as well as your call sign and date of birth. This is to ensure that you are the holder of a valid amateur certification.

If you have more than one call sign, ensure that the call sign you provide reflects the province or territory in which the event will be held.

Step 2

Fill in the mandatory fields and click the "Submit" button to submit your request to us. If errors are found with the data provided, they will be listed at the top of the page.

To assist with understanding the many rules associated with special event call signs, please refer to RIC-9: Call Sign Policy and Special Event Prefixes.

You must select one of the Requested prefixes that are listed. This may be a set of prefixes or just one prefix. Prefixes marked "National" are only permitted for national events. Note that the selected prefix(es) may not be available for the timeframe of your special event.

You may provide additional information about the special event in the comments field.

Step 3

A confirmation page is displayed including a confirmation number which you can print and keep for your records. Use this confirmation number to refer to this request in case you need assistance.

Your request will be reviewed by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and a letter will be mailed to you upon approval. You may be contacted for further information before your request is approved.
