Annex C

Annex C
1. General
1.1 The text and tables of Annex C reflect the annex of the applicable Canada/United States arrangement. Table numbering differs from the rest of this document for easier reference to the original text of the arrangement.
2. Limits of Effective Radiated Power and Antenna Height
2.1 Effective Radiated Power (ERP) is defined as the product of the power supplied to the antenna and its gain relative to a half-wave dipole in a given direction.
2.2 For base stations in the Protection Zones and Sharing Zones I and III, Table A1 lists the limits of Effective Radiated Power (ERP) corresponding to the Effective Antenna Height (EAH) ranges shown. In this case, Effective Antenna Height is calculated by subtracting the Assumed Average Terrain Elevation given in Table A3 from the Antenna Height Above Mean Sea Level.
Limits of Effective Radiated Power (ERP) Corresponding to Effective Antenna Heights of Base Stations in the Protection Zones and Sharing Zones I and III.
2.3 For base stations in Sharing Zone II, Table A2 lists the limits of Effective Radiated Power (ERP) corresponding to the Antenna Height Above Mean Sea Level ranges shown.
Limits of Effective Radiated Power (ERP) Corresponding to Antenna Heights Above Mean Sea Level of Base Stations in Sharing Zone II.
2.4 Table A3 lists the values of Assumed Average Terrain Elevations (AATE) within the Sharing and Protection Zones on both sides of the United States-Canada border.
where: EAH = (Antenna Height Above Mean Sea Level - AATE)
Center coordinates of cities in the United States and Canada that for purposes of this agreement shall be considered as falling outside of Sharing Zone I.
Limits of Power Flux Density (PFD) Corresponding to Effective Antenna Heights of Base Stations in Sharing Zones I and III.
Limits of Power Flux Density (PFD) Corresponding to Antenna Heights Above Mean Sea Level of Base Stations in Sharing Zone II.

Figure 1: Spectrum Availability and Associated Channelling Plan in the Bands 896-901/935-940 MHz
This figure illustrates the availability of channel groups in Canada and associated channels in the bands 896-901/935-940 MHz in a graphical form. See Annex A, Table 2 (b) for details regarding channel groups.
Within the protection zones and outside of the coordination zones, channels 1 to 399 are available for use in Canada.
East of 81 degrees and west of 71 degrees (Sector 2 of Sharing Zone I), channel groups 121 to 391 are available for use in Canada.
East of 71 degrees and west of 85 degrees (Sharing Zone I but outside of sectors 1 and 2, Sharing Zone II and Sharing Zone III), channel groups 201 to 391 are available for use in Canada.
East of 85 degrees and west of 81 degrees (Sector 1 of Sharing Zone I), channel groups 341 to 391 are available for use in Canada.
In all areas, channel groups 191, 241, 291, and 341 are designated for national, wide area use as detailed in Table 2(a) of Annex A. As specified in Section 4.2.4, channel groups 71, and 151 have ATCS channels. Channel group 391 contain the test and demo channels as specified in section 4.5.

Figure 1: Map - Canada/United States Sharing Arrangement: 896-901 MHz and 935-940 MHz Bands: Sharing and Protection Zones
This figure shows a partial map of Canada and the United States, illustrating the Sharing and Protection Zones for use of the bands 896-901 MHz and 935-940 MHz. There are three Sharing Zones.
Sharing Zone I:
This Sharing Zone is the area adjacent to the Canada-United States border east oflongitude 121° 30' west and extending a distance of 100 km within either country.
Sector 1 is defined to be the portion of Sharing Zone I in the United States andCanada, bounded on the west by 85° west longitude and on the east in Canada by81° west longitude and in the United States by 80° 30' west longitude.
Sector 2 is defined to be the portion of Sharing Zone I in the United States andCanada, bounded on the east by 71° west longitude and on the west in Canada by81° west longitude and in the United States by 80° 30' west longitude.
Sharing Zone II:
This Sharing Zone is the area adjacent to the Canada-United States borderbetween 121° 30' and 127° west longitude and extending a distance of 140 kmwithin either country.
Sharing Zone III:
This Sharing Zone is the area adjacent to the Alaska-British Columbia/YukonTerritory border and extending a distance of 100 km within either country.
Protection Zone:
The Protection Zones are the areas adjacent to Sharing Zones I and III andextending from 100 to 140 km away from the Canada-United States border withinboth countries.
