The Corporate, Insolvency and Competition Policy Directorate (CIC) is responsible for the legislative policy development and review of a number of Canada's business framework laws and regulations in the corporate, insolvency, and competition policy areas. These include the following statutes and the regulations made under them:
- Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act
- Canada Business Corporations Act
- Canada Cooperatives Act
- Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
- Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act
- Winding-up and Restructuring Act
- Competition Act
- Textile Labelling Act
- Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act
- Precious Metals Marking Act
The CIC carries out its mandate by
- conducting policy analysis;
- monitoring domestic and international developments;
- undertaking research; consulting with stakeholders;
- supporting the legislative process;
- working to enhance public and stakeholder understanding; and,
- participating in international discussions and negotiations in its areas of responsibility.
